Ewerer

Ewerer
The servant responsible for taking water to guests at table for the washing of hands. He was also responsible for drying the king's clothes if they got wet while hunting or travelling, and for the king's bath. Whenever the king took a bath, the ewerer was paid 4d each time, except on the three great festivals of the year - Easter, *Whitsun and Christmas - when the king bathed gratis.
